ALFERD PACKER - cannibal. In 1873, after guiding a group of prospective gold miners into the Colorado mountains, an early and severe winter storm descended on the group who became lost. Months later Packer emerged alone. Evidence indicated Packer may have killed and eaten his companions. (FUN FACT-the cafeteria at CU Boulder is named after him, with the slogan "have a friend for lunch!" Talk about some twisted humor!)

Once set for demolition, it has been preserved and restored, and now serves as a museum. Activity includes shades opening and closing on their own, shadow figures, the smell of cigar smoke (non-smoking house - Molly's husband was known as a heavy cigar smoker) and apparitions.
