Asian Art

This period of Asian Art represents the rise of Buddhism. In the beginning of Buddhist art the Buddha himself was represented by symbols. (Stupas, Lion Capital, Lotus Flower) The Buddha was represented by symbols because he was not shown in human form to begin with. However, once the human form came to life Buddha took on great meanings. In most cases the Buddha represented power and heroes, along with different states of being depending on the symbolic gestures.
