Sacred Writing Time Slides! (Here are nine of my favorite slides from our SWT set)

Dena and I created nine-and-a-half months' worth of daily PowerPoint slides to inspire writing from our students who came to class "idea-less." Our kids now "freak out" if they walk in and the daily slide isn't displayed. We sell this set from our website to be able to keep our website free-to-use and advertisement-less. Here are some of our favorite slides from the set! If you wish to order and support our site, here is the link: http://corbettharrison.com/products.html#SWT

"If you Post it, they will write..." I believe that about my Sacred Writing Slides. Two years ago, my then-6th-grade-but-now-8th-grade Chaz wrote this piece inspired by September 19th's slide; he decorated the page at home and won a "Mr. Stick of the Week" award. He's going to smile when I show everyone this older piece of sacred when they see Sept. 19's slide this year: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/450852612670153460/

Chaz is this year's first sixth-grade winner of my classroom's "Mr. Stick of the Week" award! Way to step up your game, Chaz.

Here is 2 day's worth of writing from 7th grader Diana based on this SWT slide: Just so you know, the second day, which was spent coloring and decorating, was done on her own time. In-class SWT is always about the writing, and I usually don't allow coloring or drawing. Interested in our Sacred Writing Time slides? Link: http://corbettharrison.com/products.html#swt

Each SWT slide tells the students to "make their pencils dance" for ten minutes. Here, 7th grader Ashton defies that type of choreography, and yet her pencil indeed danced. Learn about sacred writing time here: http://corbettharrison.com/SWT.htm

September 19 is coming, and it's "Talk like a Pirate" Day! Who comes up with these holidays, but stuff like that inspires good sacred writing. Chaz, for example, wrote the following: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/450852612670153425/ I am bummed I can't find Travis' writing from last year; he did a whole adventure story about a kid who was a "powder monkey," and it took him a week to do so. All from one silly little slide that is posted daily in my classroom.

A gold mine! This is a FANTASTIC writing teacher. tons of writing ideas and lessonsfor middle schoolers that can be modified and used in upper elem.
