Avedon’s instructions to his printer for an image taken of coal miner Lyal Burr at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Koosharem, Utah, May 7, 1981. From Evidence 1944-1994: Richard Avedon + **Here are some notes from Laura Wilson’s book Avedon at Work. In The American West. Wilson assisted Avedon for six years, and if you can spare the change, definitely pick it up: -“The difficult and time-consuming process ok making these prints began in the basement darkroom of the A
Richard Avedon's notes to his printer >>> Avedon was an American fashion and portrait photographer and you can see here how picky he was with his darkroom prints. So if someone tells you editing is wrong, you can tell them it's been going on since the dawn of photography only back in the day it was done in a darkroom which this photo makes me miss.
Avedon's notes to his printer // I saw the exhibition of Avedon's photography, "Portraits of Power," at the San Diego Museum of Art in 2009. Beyond his expert grasp of brilliant photography, his use of the medium to convey the very essence of power was remarkable, featuring politicians, world leaders and influencers as well as artists, poets, disruptors and radicals. Breathtaking.

Dorothea Lange - she shot street photography and portrait work during America's Great Depression in the 1930s. #history #historylessons #dorothealange #greatdepression #photography
Dorthea Lange: At a time when women had had the vote for less than twenty years, Dorothea Lange was a pioneer. A professional woman who took photographs for a living. The Great Depression of the 1930s is best remembered, photographically, by the work of the FSA, for which she worked. She travelled the USA recording the deprivations caused by the failure of the economy as well as taking many uplifting images that showed that, despite the hard times, life and love went on.

Corinne first started snapping a 15-year-old Kate for The Face in 1990 and the resulting images redefined fashion photography forever.
Corinne Day (1962-2010) was a British fashion photographer, documentary photographer, and fashion model. "Corinne opened the door for a whole generation of photographers, designers, models and stylists who suddenly saw that the fashion industry didn’t have to be this exclusive club for the privileged and perfect" (Belinda White, The Daily Telegraph, 2010).
