Crash course on landforms. Each student made a graham cracker island with a plan sheet and map key. Each island included a mountain range, mountains (Hershey kisses), hills (chocolate chips), canyons (Rolos), river, lake, delta ( Blue tube icing), plain and desert (green and tan icing). Each student had an interview describing their graham cracker island. I love the cookie island idea but it was a little too expensive for the budget. This was a keeper!

This website has so many ideas for teaching social studies! One thing I really liked was the American hero book report. Students chose an American hero and created a display about them. Students displayed their work and dressed up like their hero!
