Norman Rockwell's Prom Dress -1949 “The commonplaces of America are to me the richest subjects in art. Boys batting flies on vacant lots; little girls playing jacks on the front steps; old men plodding home at twilight-all thse things arouse feeling in me.” – Norman Rockwell
"Prom Dress", March 19,1949 by Norman Rockwell - one of my favorite artists. very special since I have just sent one off to senior prom for the second year in a row
Norman Rockwell "Prom Dress" 1949 -- (This is supposedly a girl trying on the dress, but I like to think Rockwell depicted a moment in the gender identity struggle of a young person in post-WWII America.)

The Singing Butler, Jack Vettriano Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain.
The Singing Butler - Jack Vettriano. This is definitely one of my favorite paintings. I always see it and wish I could be that girl in some fantastical world. It will definitely be on one of my walls one day!

The Singing Butler - Jack Vettriano
In my dining room :)
Have I ever told you about my favorite painting? I had admired it for years . . . never even knowing the name or the artist until several years ago. It's called "The Singing Butler" by Jack Vettriano. I love this painting not because of the style or the artist (I don't especially love either) . . . but I love the content. It's a man in a tuxedo and a woman in an evening gown dancing barefoot at the beach. And what I love about it . . . is that you can tell the weather is stormy and windy, but it never seems to phase the dancers. The butler and the maid on the other hand . . . they are holding umbrellas over the couple and turning away from the wind. But the couple is still dancing. It's like this beautiful, peaceful moment in the middle of a storm. I absolutely love it. And the other day . . . I came home to find a 32 x 44 inch, beautifully framed copy sitting in my living room. It's so big there's only one space it will fit in my house. Thank you Sarah. It's beautiful.

Royal star fish. Starfish or sea stars are echinoderms About 1,500 living species of starfish occur on the seabed in all the world's oceans, from the tropics to subzero polar waters. They typically have a central disc and five arms, though some species have more than this. The aboral or upper surface may be smooth, granular or spiny, and is covered with overlapping plates.
Purple and Orange Starfish on the Beach God the Father made the stars in heaven; and "Starfish" on earth! Awesome!! Psalms 148:1-14
Purple and Orange Starfish on the Beach. Once when snorkeling with my friend Nonong on Boracay Island, Philippines, I found 2 purple starfish. My first and only time to see a purple one.
The purple seastar is of the species Pisaster ochraceus. It is also called ochre sea star. It does not only appear as purple, though--it can also be pale orange or dark brown
Astropecten articulatus courtesy of the TerraMar project. Also known as the Royal Sea Star. Being from Texas, I am sometimes called the Lone Star Fish. Blue is the color of the sea. As a graduate of rthe University of Texas, of course I also love orange. Such a beautiful photo and I hope someone made sure this lovely animal made its way back into the sea.
Sea star or Star fish (asteroidea), Their length can be from 5 to 20 inches, weighing 0.1 to 6 pounds.
Purple and Orange Starfish (Sea Star) Asteroidea. "Marine scientists have undertaken the difficult task of replacing the beloved starfish’s common name with sea star because, well, the starfish is not a fish. It’s an echinoderm, closely related to sea urchins and sand dollars."
