It's funny..I just had a conversation with my grandma about my recent doubts in my faith, and how I have no idea how I even got to this point in the first place, and this book was brought up. I even own this book, but never read it. It's been collecting dust on my book shelf for years. Maybe I'll give it a shot.
That's perhaps the best quote on backsliding ever uttered.
C.S. Lewis - The Screwtape Letters..such a sad truth
That's the thing. I never, ever understood how you could live a regular life AND be a Christian. Because if Jesus' sermons and God's demands were true...it should consume your life and leave little room for anything else. The Bible is hardcore.
C.S. Lewis, "The Screwtape Letters". Satan cringes when we do God's will and obey Him, even when we feel like we have been forsaken. Satan's cause is in danger every day.
C.S. Lewis, "The Screwtape Letters" (Since the Screwtape Letters are suppose to be written by a senior devil, to his nephew, "our Enemy" refers to God our father. Such an incredible read that helps us to understand and see first hand the devices of deception that the enemy (satan and his demons) use to cause us to stumble and ensnare us.
"He wants them to learn to walk and must therefore take away His hand; and if only the will to walk is really there He is pleased even with their stumbles...Our cause is never in more danger than when a human, no longer desiring, but still intending, to do our Enemy's will , looks round at the universe from which every trace of Him seems to have vanished, and asks why he has been forsaken, and still obeys." -C.S. Lewis
...and still obeys. C.S. Lewis, "The Screwtape Letters"
