Hang a balcony farm outside your apartment kitchen. SkyFarm is a cool vertical gardening concept from German designer Manuel Dreesman.
Skyfarm is a vertical gardening concept from German designer Manuel Dreesmann. It arose from Dreesmann's awareness that as cities continued to grow and buildings continued to get taller, it left people with fewer backyards but more balconies. Skyfarm fills the need for society to reduce consumption by growing food closer to home — and in fact, it brings the food right outside your door and above your head.

We usually think of shovels as tools for creating the art of a garden, but in this case artist Cal Lane has turned them into works of art themselves.
Cal Lane - an artist who takes the raw ruggedness of steel and iron and the delicateness and sensitivity of lace, combining a male material with a feminine one, to create very provocative and seductive sculptures. She calls her pieces “industrial doilies.” http://www.callane.com/works.html#
Canadian artist Cal Lane transforms rusty industrial objects into sculptures that look as if they were made of lace.
Using her trusty blowtorch, artist and welder Cal Lane burns delicate lace-like patterns into reclaimed steel objects. She says she thinks of the original materials - such as shovels, manhole covers, dumpsters, wheelbarrows and i-beams - as “male” because of their industrial nature. Lane enjoys pushing the dichotomy of feminine and masculine by using lace.
plasma-cut steel shovels by artist Cal Lane Check out www.callane.com She also cuts wonderfully intricate designs in steel oil barrels, dumpsters & I-Beams.
In “Wheelbarrows and Shovels”, Lane transforms steel into gorgeous and intricate plasma cut patterns. The artist juxtaposes gritty yardwork tools with impressive ornamental fabric patterns, a combination of what she describes as “industrial and domestic life”. By comparing the two ideas, viewers are inspired to consider the differences of the two unique pieces, a thought provoking process that merges two opposites into one complementary final product.
