Bhon went to the American Southwest to pull inspiration for their Fall 2011 collection. The designers say that the draped knits and dyed prints are “a graphic interpretation of these images of tropical driftwood, exposed tree roots, and forests in historically volcanic areas in Arizona.”
Designer Sharon Wauchob collaborated with artist Aboubakar Fofana on indigo-dyed pieces for ethical fashion brand Edun. The pigment comes from an indigenous Malian plant and it’s hand-dyed by artisans. Even though it’s appearing here in a Spring 2012 collection, the rich, gorgeous color is always in fashion.
Helmut Newton’s erotically-charged, stylized photography was the inspiration for Bibhu Mohapatra’s Spring 2012 collection. Bibhu developed the aesthetic by playing up elegant pleats and sharp, body-conscious tailoring.
