Books worth reading...
From the highly acclaimed, multiple award-winning Anthony Doerr, the beautiful, stunningly ambitious instant New York Times bestseller about a blind French girl and a German boy whose paths collide in occupied France as both try to survive the devastation of World War II. Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is twelve, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel. In a mining town in Germany, the orphan Werner grows up with his younger sister, enchanted by a crude radio they find. Werner becomes an expert at building and fixing these crucial new instruments, a talent that wins him a place at a brutal academy for Hitler Youth, then a special assignment to track the resistance. More and more aware of the human cost of his intelligence, Werner travels through the heart of the war and, finally, into Saint-Malo, where his story and Marie-Laure’s converge. Doerr’s “stunning sense of physical detail and gorgeous metaphors” ( San Francisco Chronicle ) are dazzling. Deftly interweaving the lives of Marie-Laure and Werner, he illuminates the ways, against all odds, people try to be good to one another. Ten years in the writing, All the Light We Cannot See is a magnificent, deeply moving novel from a writer “whose sentences never fail to thrill” ( Los Angeles Times ).
Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky
Worth Reading, Book Title, Book Worth, Ilya Repin, Book Review, Dostoevs That Fyodor, Favorite Book, Punisher, Novels
My favorite book for much of my life, and the first that literally kept me turning pages and waiting to read more as if I had to relieve myself of something. Rich description, taut plotting, commentary on the human condition. In short, a masterpiece.
Better Book Titles (Crime and Punishment)
Very long and difficult novel, but worth reading.
After watching a book review show on BBC - Sue Perkins recommended this book, and described the plot which I think I will enjoy
Ilya Repin, They did not Expect Him, 1884-1888.

Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides, really good book!
Middlesex, by Jeffrey Eugenides. my all time favorite book. it's a somewhat difficult read, but once you get into it, it's absolutely amazing.
Middlesex, Jeffrey Eugenides Compulsively readable, Eugenides’s novel tells many stories, but the most memorable of these is that of Cal, who tells us that he was born twice: “first, as a baby girl, on a remarkably smogless Detroit day of January 1960; and then again, as a teenage boy, in an emergency room near Petoskey, Michigan, in August of l974.” Whether or not you’ve had any remotely similar experience, Cal’s struggles with sexuality, identity, and loyalty to family are likely to hit home.
anything by Eugenides is worth reading! I love his characters!

The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway
Worth Reading, Ernest Hemingway, Book Worth, Rise, Favorite Book, Ban Book, Novels, Sun, Lost Generation
The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway - The quintessential novel of the Lost Generation. A poignant look at the disillusionment and angst of the post-World War I generation. The story follows the flamboyant Brett and the hapless Jake as they journey from the wild nightlife of 1920s Paris to the brutal bull-fighting rings of Spain with a motley group of expatriates. It is an age of moral bankruptcy, spiritual dissolution, unrealized love, and vanishing illusions.
The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway favorite book ever!

A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

the books the HBO series was based on
A Game of Thrones (Book) : Martin, George R. R. : A NEW ORIGINAL SERIES, NOW ON HBO. Here is the first volume in George R. R. Martin's magnificent cycle of novels that includes A Clash of Kings and A Storm of Swords . As a whole, this series comprises a genuine masterpiece of modern fantasy, bringing together the best the genre has to offer. Magic, mystery, intrigue, romance, and adventure fill these pages and transport us to a world unlike any we have ever experienced. Already hailed as a classic, George R. R. Martin's stunning series is destined to stand as one of the great achievements of imaginative fiction. A GAME OF THRONES Long ago, in a time forgotten, a preternatural event threw the seasons out of balance. In a land where summers can last decades and winters a lifetime, trouble is brewing. The cold is returning, and in the frozen wastes to the north of Winterfell, sinister and supernatural forces are massing beyond the kingdom's protective Wall. At the center of the conflict lie the Starks of Winterfell, a family as harsh and unyielding as the land they were born to. Sweeping from a land of brutal cold to a distant summertime kingdom of epicurean plenty, here is a tale of lords and ladies, soldiers and sorcerers, assassins and bastards, who come together in a time of grim omens. Here an enigmatic band of warriors bear swords of no human metal; a tribe of fierce wildlings carry men off into madness; a cruel young dragon prince barters his sister to win back his throne; and a determined woman undertakes the most treacherous of journeys. Amid plots and counterplots, tragedy and betrayal, victory and terror, the fate of the Starks, their allies, and their enemies hangs perilously in the balance, as each endeavors to win that deadliest of conflicts: the game of thrones.
