I love this drawing, because the bottom 3 little girls remind me of my two sisters & myself, if we hadn't been separated by adoption. We always wore dresses like this to school. Cost Of Living — 1962... My Oldsmobile Cutlass S.S. 1969 was $3,000.00 new. Gas was 25 cents per gallon.
Cost of living 1962. Thing that struck me most was ratio of wage to price of new home. Seemed much more sensible than housing costs now.
Cost Of Living — 1962. I was a sophomore in high school. Mama and Daddy always talked about the high cost of things. I didn't care. Now (2014) I see these numbers and am overwhelmed at how prices have increased.

Big Wheels | 32 Essential Toys Every '80s Preschooler Had
Remember, 80S, Toy, Big Wheels, Childhood Memories, Memory Lane, 80 S, Kid
I wore the crap out of my Big Wheel. I had two of them. One at my Grandmother's house and one at my (parents') house. It was awesome!! This will forever be my 80s landmark toy. In a nutshell (before learning to ride a bike) this object represented my freedom, my independence... it rocked!!
Big Wheel! 1970's toys - my parents would not let any of us kids have one....no skateboards either....my Mum said too dangerous...yet I had the old style "Easy Bake Oven" and participated in horse jumping, ice skating, etc.
...they were our "cars".... When I was a kid I ran into a parked car on my Big Wheel and had to go to the ER. After my mom had come to from passing out at the sound of my screams at the hospital and realized I was OK, I remember my mom saying "Usually cars hit kids. My kid hit a car". I've always been a closet rebel:)
If I remember right...this toy was called "The Big Wheel." Our son, who was three or four, use to race down the street in one!
80s toys | I used to get in trouble for riding mine down the road all the time, because you could not hear the cars coming behind you. Loved my big wheel!

vintage pay phone. It was a nickel to place a call, and soon after it cost a dime, I never used one after that.....
Old Pay Phone. Oh yes the good old pay phone. Think of all the germs left behind from an eye popping sneeze, runny nose wipe, body scratching, etc. I can still see the oiliness on the receiver, and remember the smell of it. It stunk . Yes I know today's cell phones also leave us germ vulnerable, but they R our own germs. That's different. How exciting when you Heard a clink in the coin return as you opened it . Someone forgot their change!

Playing on the Monkey Bars 1956. By Wayne Miller.....I loved to play on the Monkey Bars at Buckman Grade School in Portland Oregon. The Monkey Bars didn't have any padding under them and were removed and replaced with a safe jungle gym system in the 70's.
Wayne Miller | USA, 1956 ✭ mid century kids playground Just like the one at Roosevelt School! It was called a jungle gym?!
We had monkey bars just like this at school and in my whole time in grade school only one kid broke her arm. Too bad kids today have to miss out because now it's deemed too dangerous. What are we doing to kids now-a-days?
Monkey bars - I remember climbing these on the playgrounds at school. Asphalt playgrounds, none of the rubberized mulch kids today have.
Monkey Bars - we had these at my grade school, on a black topped playground. Seemed like at least one kid broke an arm every year. Nobody every thought of getting rid of the playground equipment though. bygoneamericana: USA, 1956. By Wayne Miller

We danced around the Maypole in elementary school. I was so proud that my older brother got to hold the pole for us when I was in 1st grade.
Maypole ... I did this in grade school. As a matter of fact, May Day was a big deal--made paper flower holders to leave on "old ladies'" doorknobs (ring the doorbell and then run and hide)
Came across this looking for something else... But wow, the Maypole brings back memories :)

Cloth Diapers. All my babies were allergic to plastic & couldn't wear the disposables. Had to have spun-silk 'rubber' pants, too. I went to the Laundromat to wash Rusty's diapers. Rusty is now 50, and none the worse for the hassle!
cloth diapers and safety pins! (always scared you'd accidentally stick the baby) dried on a clothesline!
Cloth Diapers. I used cloth for my 1985 babies. No harsh chemicals on my babies and no extra stuff in the land fill on my account. Wash and reuse. Disposable diapers were meant for travel/camping and such, not daily use. I used cloth no matter what we were doing, camping, traveling, visiting, child care, all the time.
Cloth Diapers....my mom would throw them in the toilet if they were soiled to get back to it later. If you had to go, you would dip the diaper up and down to get the poo out and then stick it in the diaper pail. Babies wore "rubber" aka/plastic pants over their diaper to prevent getting their bedding and clothes wet.
cloth diapers. I loved diapering my babies in soft white cloth diapers. So, these fall into the category of "clothes I like". :)
Cloth Diapers. i can remember putting these on my baby dolls. i also used them on my babies in the 80's an 90's.
All my children wore these, no pampers or huggies then.
Cloth Diapers... used them on two of by babies
