Lady Laena Velaryon was the second wife of Prince Daemon Targaryen and mother of his twin daughters, Rhaena and Baela Targaryen. A dragonrider from House Velaryon, she rode the dragon Vhagar. She died from complications of childbirth. Laena was tall, slender, and surpassingly lovely with a great mane of silver-gold ringlets that fell down past her waist. It was said she had inherited the beauty of her mother, Princess Rhaenys Targaryen,
Prince Rhaegar Targaryen (259AC - 283AC). Son of Aerys II and brother of Viserys and Daenerys. Well-loved for most of his life, Rhaegar helped to initiate Robert's Rebellion and the fall of the Targaryen Dynasty by abducting Lyanna Stark, Robert Baratheon's only love and Eddard Stark's sister. He was later slain in single combat by Robert at the ruby ford of the Trident.
Queen Helaena Targaryen was the sister-wife to Aegon II, daughter of King Viserys I Targaryen and his second wife, Queen Alicent Hightower. She had three children with her husband, the twins Jaehaerys and Jaehaera and Maelor. Helaena was a dragonrider, her dragon was Dreamfyre. She was a pleasant and happy girl. Everyone agreed that she would make a fine mother. She was loved by the smallfolk.
King Maegor I Targaryen, also known as Maegor the Cruel, was the son of King Aegon I Targaryen and Queen Visenya Targaryen. He was the younger half-brother of Aenys I Targaryen. He was the third Targaryen king to sit the Iron Throne.
Jaehaerys II Targaryen (225AC - 262AC), Successor of Aegon V and King of the Seven Kingdoms (259AC - 262AC). Son of Aegon V. A clever but sickly man, he married out of love like his father but commanded his son, Aerys II, and daughter to wed. Promoted Ser Barristan Selmy, hero of the War of the Ninepenny Kings, to his Kingsguard. His reign was short, but effective. Grandfather to Rhaegar, Viserys and Daenerys.
Queen Daena Targaryen "The Defiant" was the third child of Aegon III and Daenaera, sister-wife to her brother King Baelor. He dissolved their (never consummated) marriage as soon as he became king, and locked her and their two sisters in a tower because he refused to abide by the Targaryen practice of incest. She was "rescued" by their cousin, the future Aegon IV. They had an affair which resulted in a son, Daemon Waters (later Daemon Blackfyre).
