Officials in Tennessee say that a father and his 12-year-old son died over the weekend after an AR-15 assault-style rifle accidentally discharged, causing a fire and then a series of explosions in a room full of ammunition. WBBJ-TV reported on Monday that Tennessee State Bomb and Arson Investigators, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Henderson County Sheriff’s Department were all looking into the Sunday deaths 48-year-old Terry York and his son, Luke.
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says two Indianapolis parents have been arrested in connection to the death of their 3-year-old son. In December of 2013, police were called to the 1800 block of East 86th Street on report of a child shot. The 911 caller told dispatchers “a gun went off and struck a child.”

Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones told News Leader 9 in December that the young victim, his 12-year-old brother, and their 14-year-old friend had returned from a hunting trip, and were in a bedroom. At the time, it was reported that one of the boys was putting his rifle away when it accidentally discharged and struck the 10-year-old in the head, killing him instantly.

PRATTS – A 12-year-old boy was killed Saturday afternoon in the woods near his house in Madison County in what authorities, and the boy’s father, are calling an accidental shooting. G. Scott Davis, 35, charged after authorities said he shot 2-month-old Kestyn Davis. Davis brought a newly purchased 9 mm handgun downstairs with him to show to his father-in-law. He was “messing with the firearm” and intentionally pulled the trigger, although he did not believe the gun was loaded. His name was Taj H. Ayesh. Stephanie Sharell Nealy, 29, is the boy's mother. She went outside her Lakeland home at 1530 Arthur Blvd. to get a pre-paid card from a truck. Taj followed her. Nealy told investigators there was a loaded handgun inside the truck. She moved it while she searched the truck for the card. She says she was facing away from the truck when she heard a gunshot. She turned to see her son fall to the ground behind her.
Dallas police were called out to the shooting Saturday afternoon, where they were told three brothers were left alone, ages 7, 9 and 13. Police say the three were playing, and 13-year-old was handling the gun when it fired, shooting 7-year-old Quindell Lee in the head. Over the weekend, Quindell’s condition had stabilized, according to his grandmother. But, Monday morning she confirmed to CBS 11 that her grandson passed away.

Death of 8-year-old Southampton Township boy ruled a homicide Cumberland County Coroner Charley Hall said in a news release that Alexander P. Pfaff, the 8-year-old boy shot in Southampton Township by his younger brother on Sept 1, died of a single gunshot to the head and his death is being ruled a homicide. Police said two boys, the 8-year-old and his 6-year-old brother were in the room with their sleeping mother when the gun went off, striking the 8-year-old boy in the head.
