Kids under 15 killed in gun accidents in 2015
BOHANNON, Va. (WAVY) — Officials with the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries have confirmed that a 13-year-old boy from Mathews County died from a hunting accident Thursday evening. Officials said the victim was accidentally shot with a shotgun by a 17-year-old boy while the two were hunting on private property in the Long Lane and Myrtle Grove Avenue area of Bohannon. 10 On Your Side learned the 13-year-old is Jordan Stewart, a student at Thomas Hunter Middle School.
GOODLETTSVILLE, TN - Police have released the name of the 5-year-old who was shot and killed in Goodlettsville over the weekend. According to the Goodlettsville Police Department, the gunshot that struck Andrew Turner was fired by his sibling. Police say it was not unusual for the children's father to keep a weapon nearby for protection.
TAMPA — When the sixth grader jokingly dared him to shoot Saturday night, Jose Cruz, Jr., went ahead and pulled the trigger. He thought the .357 revolver was empty, he told Tampa police. It was not. The bullet struck Stephenn Santiago-Grey, 14, in the chest. He collapsed in the driveway of his house at 4611 E Whiteway Drive. Several people called 911. He died at Tampa General Hospital.
A 4-year-old boy is dead after he accidentally shot himself with a firearm that he found in his Bethel State Trooper Housing home, Alaska State Troopers wrote in a dispatch Tuesday. "Investigation revealed that William Anderson, age 4, was playing by himself in the family living room when he obtained a privately owned firearm and subsequently suffered a fatal gunshot wound," troopers wrote.

The suspect, a friend of Porter’s son Barry Brooks, 16, had spent Sunday night at the house. DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A 17-year-old has been charged in the shooting death of a 13-year-old in DeKalb County. Marcus Lewis, 13, was accidentally shot in the face by his friend, Aaron Harcum, 17, around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. Police say the boys found the gun in the woods near a home on Idlewood Park in Lithonia.
A 13-year-old Magee boy died Saturday after a gun accidentally discharged, shooting him in the face, according to a report from MageeNews.com. Family members told us that Jacob Allan, a seventh grader at Magee Middle School,was leaving his grandmother's home and while walking down the steps, tripped making his rifle discharge.
A Kansas deputy's son has died following an accidental shooting. Around 8:15 a.m. Friday, emergency crews responded to the report of a shooting in the 100 block of East Avenue B in South Hutchinson. Reno County Sheriff Randy Henderson said three-year-old Kaden Nagle found a loaded 40 caliber handgun in the home. The boy's father, Deputy Andrew Nagle, was in another room when he heard a gunshot.
Dallas police said an 11-year-old boy has died after accidentally shooting himself in a home in the 4900 block of South Buckner Boulevard in the Buckner Terrace neighborhood. Police said the boy, later identified as Phabion Kemarion Runnels, shot himself about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday after finding the gun in a home in the Town View Apartments. Rome Police have charged 18 year old Henry Bartle with criminally negligent homicide in connection to the death of his girlfriend's 7 month old baby. Bartle had cleaned his 12 gauge shotgun and for some reason he decided to load the gun while sitting on a couch. When Bartle got up from the couch, the gun accidentally fired once, hitting the seven month old baby boy in the upper body. The baby's grandfather is Gary Muntz of Whitesboro. Muntz says his grandson's name is Nathaniel Hitt.
Atlanta police responded to a person shot call on Martin Street SE just before 11 a.m. on Saturday. When officers arrived on the scene, they heard from people at the scene that a child was accidentally shot in the head by her father. Police said the 6-year-old girl, Ja'Mecca Smith, died on the scene. APD tells CBS46 the father left the scene briefly but returned in time to be questioned by detectives.

A Rock Hill toddler has died following a shooting Sunday, the York County Coroner's Office announced Monday. Savion Barrow was transported to Piedmont Medical Center Sunday after accidentally shooting himself inside his home on Ameilia Avenue in Rock Hill. The 3-year-old succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Twelve-year-old Marlin Banks Jr. was accidentally shot in his York City home early this morning, York City Police Sergeant William Wentz said. Marlin died shortly after being taken to York Hospital, according to the York County Coroner's Office. City marshals were pursuing a vehicle driven by Chris Few in Marksville Tuesday night. It is still not clear what led to the pursuit. The Avoyelles Parish coroner said he was told Few went down a dead-end road and then put his vehicle in reverse when some of the pursuing officers opened fire, shooting him and his young son who was a passenger in the vehicle. Few, who was not armed, was wounded but survived. His son, Jeremy Mardis, was killed after being hit by 5 bullets in the head and chest.
A 12-year-old South Carolina boy was fatally shot Friday in what authorities say was an accident during a target-shooting outing. The victim was identified as Joseph Baily of More, South Carolina. “It was an accident,” county Sheriff Dale Williams said Monday. “It (shooter) was a juvenile. It was a brother. His brother was 11 years old.” “The 11-year-old picked up a weapon off of a picnic table,” Sheriff Williams said. “He accidentally shot it.”
LOGAN — Sheriff’s deputies have released the identity of the 10-year-old boy who was killed after a hunting accident. Cache County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Matt Bilodeau said Zachary Woodruff of Smithfield was reportedly with family southeast of Red Spur Saturday night. Another man who knew the family, pulled up next to the boy on a four-wheeler and was removing a rifle when it fired, striking and killing Woodruff.

Alex Demello was shot last Tuesday. A 17-year-old boy is accused of pulling the trigger just inside a fence on JBLM property. Police say the teens, including Demello's 14-year old brother, had gone through a hole in the fence.
The father of a 9-year-old boy who fatally shot himself Monday on Detroit's west side has been charged with second-degree murder and several other charges. Christopher Duran Head, 45, of Detroit will be arraigned today in the death of his son, Daylen Makhai Head, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office announced Thursday. "It is alleged that the father possessed a loaded shotgun that was not secured and accessible to the child," the prosecutor's office said in a statement.
A 2-year-old is dead after an apparent accidental shooting, according to police. Investigators said they were called out to a home on WW Carr Avenue in Jackson for a shots fired call.
