Frida Kahlo | Without Hope | 1945- pic about chronic pain from sweet Karen
Without Hope (1945) | by Frida Kahlo ~ A lack of appetite resulting from her many surgeries and numerous illnesses, left Frida very thin. Her doctor, Dr Eloesser, prescribed complete bed rest and a fattening diet of puréed food every two hours. In this painting, the artist portrays what she considered to be a "forced feeding" diet. The wooden structure that once held her canvases for painting now holds a funnel that continuously feeds her.

FRIDA KAHLO (1907- 1954), a Mexican painter, born in Coyoacán. Best known for her self-portraits. At the age of 18, she was left crippled from a bus accident. She had 30 operations & spent over a year in bed recovering from her injuries. It was during her convalescence that she began painting. She married muralist Diego Rivera & the 2 were known to have a stormy relationship. (''Self-Portrait with the Portrait of Doctor Farill'', 1951, Oil on Masonite)
Frida Kahlo, 1948, oil on board. This painting speaks to me through the strong emotion in the eyes. Kahlo's life was filled with grief and had a bitter and painful end. This painting was completed towards the end of her life. The pain can be seen in her expression.

"Árbol de la Esperanza, Mantente Firme" / " Tree of Hope, remain strong" Frida Kalho 1946
"Árbol de la esperanza mantente firme," (Tree of Hope, Remain Strong), 1946. Oil on masonite. #fridakahlo "For her entire adult life, artist Frida Kahlo (1907-1954) suffered unbearable pain from her spine and foot. She endured over 30 surgeries to correct the problem (in both Mexico and the U.S), was subjected to batteries of tests, X-rays, and spinal taps, given blood transfusions, physical therapy, and strong medicine. Despite extreme measures, her health continued to deteriorate."
