Jim "Catfish" Hunter (1946–1999), is from Hertford, nc near Elizabeth City and the Outer Banks. He was a Major League Baseball pitcher, starting for the Oakland Athletics and New York Yankees in five World Series Championships during the 1970s. Also a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame.
