ScienceAlert Astronomers beamed an image of Da Vinci's Mona Lisa from Earth to a spacecraft orbiting the Moon. Each pixel travelled some 384,000 km (240,000 miles) to reach its destination. Once the image was received, transmission errors caused by the Earth’s atmosphere were corrected. This is the first time one-way laser communication at planetary distances is achieved.
