The Green Mile (1999) This was the second movie that Tom Hanks surprised me in with his performance. Loved the period surrounding the story and loved Coffey and his simple but far reaching ways. Loved how Coffey held in the bad stuff from the warden's wife to deliver Percy's punishment. The book was good but slow, the movie good and not slow. Definitely worth a watch.

Though not the most gruesome of the shit kicker genre, there is enough murder & mayhem to qualify and the cast is absolutely spot-on. One of my Top 10 post 1970 favs.
