museumuesum: Leo Fitzmaurice Horizon (Leeds), 2011 oil paintings and picture frames, installation dimensions variable Horizon (Leeds) is made up from a selection of 19th and early 20th century landscape paintings chosen from Leeds Art Gallery’s collection. Fitzmaurice has installed the paintings to create a single painted horizon, forming a graphic line cutting across the ornate frames.

George Rodrigue early Cajun works - he's better known for his blue dog paintings but I prefer his early Cajun art. The moss-covered trees are haunting and there's a practical charm to all of the moodiness. It feels like someone painting from a hazy memory. I'm not a huge American landscape person but I really like George Rodrigue's depictions of early 20th century Louisiana.
