Wood pallet: The thin vertical boards should be painted one color, the horizontal thick ones another, and the background covered with some sort of patterned vinyl or something weather proof, all in coordinating colors. Also maybe use some decorative trim to spiff it up even more.

(I think I would put a nut or other metal item into the pan before cooking for the wire rather then taking the chance of cracking the finished product)
