I wouldn't buy new burlap or fabric. I'm all about reusing. I'm thinking cutting rags, old ripped clothing, Matt's used golf towels. Just random pieces of scrap fabric to make a shabby chic garland for the Christmas tree.
Paint a terra cotta clay pot white, add a bit of face paint fun and then top with a 'tied glove' stocking hat from the $1 store add a bit of beribboned whimsy for the scarf ~ great snowman desk gifts for my staff gifts.
