Detail from 'Eine Kaffee Schenkerinn' Portrait of the Artist’s Daughter, Offering a Cup of Coffee, 1732, by Balthasar Denner (1685-1749). Steam rises from the coffee, and the dish is being offered with some rapidity, as seen by the spilt liquid in the saucer. I suggest it is not a cup but a dish or "tea bowl" because while no handle is evident, the date of 1732 is well before handles were put to cups in the late 1750s early 1760s.
