Don Quichot

Edward Hopper Don Quixote, 1906-1907. Watercolor, pen, brush and ink, and graphite pencil on paper, Whitney Museum of American Art, Josephine N. Hopper Bequest<br/>Hopper’s parents had hoped that he would pursue a career in commercial illustration, a profession which he hugely disdained. “Edward just didn’t have the personality to produce happily what someone asked him to do on commission,” Gail Levin said during a Rockwell lecture.
