The Monument to Joe Louis, known also as "The Fist", is a memorial to the boxer at Detroit's Hart Plaza. Dedicated on Oct 16, 1986, the sculpture, commissioned by Sports Illustrated magazine from the Mexican-American sculptor Robert Graham, is a 24-foot-long arm with a fisted hand suspended by a 24-foot-high pyramidal framework. It represents the power of his punch both inside and outside the ring. Graham referred to the sculpture as a "battering ram".

The Loren Andrus Octagon House, also known as Washington Octagon House, is an historic octagonal house located at 57500 Van Dyke Street just north of 26 Mile Road in Washington Township, Macomb County, Michigan. It was built in 1860 by David Stewart for his brother-in-law, Loren Andrus. It is now owned by the Friends of the Loren Andrus Octagon House, Inc., which bought it in 1987.

Sanilac Petroglyphs Historic State Park is a state park in MI containing Michigan's only known rock carvings attributable to Native American Indians. At Ubly, the river flowed down the present Cass River basin and then into glacial Lake Saginaw. At the Petroglyph site, this former river channel is nearly 1 mile wide and can still be plainly seen. After the ice retreated about 10,000 or 12,000 yrs age, the first men and animals, such as Mastodons, Mammoths, Caribou, and Elk moved into the area.

Gwen Frostic was born in Sandusky, MI. When she was 8 months old she suffered from an unknown illness which left her with lifelong symptoms similar to cerebral palsy. She had artistic endeavors in metal and plastic, but with the war came a lack of metal to work with and she turned to linoleum block carving. Frostic then turned her linoleum block carving into stationery goods and prints which led to her starting her own printing company, Presscraft Papers. Studio at Benzonia, MI
