Fun nonfiction Halloween activity in your elementary library media center! Included is a worksheet/scavenger hunt that has 13 Dewey nonfiction call numbers. Students then browse your nonfiction shelves to locate those numbers on the spine labels of books and then draw what the subject is on the worksheet. You may have the students work alone, in pairs or in groups depending on their ability. I reward them with some smarties or candy corn when they finish. My students really love this! $

Here's a special "color by call number" activity for students to complete in a center or as a whole group activity. They find each fiction picture book call number and color those yellow. All fiction chapter book call numbers are to be colored blue, and nonfiction call numbers are red.
