A never before seen dress made for and worn by Queen Victoria is now on display in the Victoria Revealed exhibition at Kensington Palace. The cream silk satin dress, with intricate embroidery, was given to the young Queen in the 1850s by the wife John Gregory Crace.

Day dress, Catherine Donovan, New York, 1874. Purple 2-piece dress of silk faille with trim of velvet, lace, silk chenille, & beads. Skirt meant to be worn with bustle and has train. Skirt front is heavily ruched & has velvet panels on each side. Bodice buttons at front w/purple buttons and has matching beaded decoration. Long sleeves flare outward at cuffs, trimmed with white lace. High collar; yoke & sleeves trimmed w/white lace. Delaware Historical Society

Spencer, Underbodice and Skirt: ca. 1815, Spencer and skirt cut velvet with piping and wrapped buttons in hussar style, silk satin underbodice. "This is a short jacket with long, tight-fitting sleeves that covered the hands, called Spencer jacket. A high-waisted skirt of the same fabric. It took its name from England's Earl Spencer (1758-1834), who wore this kind of jacket. The Spencer was fashionable from the 1790s to the 1820s."
