The Allman Brothers Band was part of a contagion of great rock blues music of the late 60s and early 70s. In their short existence as a full-brother band, until Duane Allmann tragically passed in a motorcycle mishap, their bluesy beat still touches my soul. "Whipping Post" is a spectacular production!
Eric Clapton has been acclaimed in blues, in jazz, in rock - he is the most talented songwriter, guitarist, improvisationalist, and jam-artist in the history of modern music. Everyone with talent has jammed with him at one time or another. "Layla" still stands as my tickler.
I originally believed Peter Frampton was a handsome, hip-shaking, plastic smiling bubble-gumer...but while he could have been that, he was worlds' above that. He has been described as one of the top ten rock guitarists again and again. He's authentic and "Frampton Comes Alive" is his mantelpiece.
and when I die, When I'm dead, dead and gone, There'll be one child born in our world to carry on. Great soul, blues and rock fusion band of the 60s that still carries on in the second decade of the 21st Century.
There is something about his gravelly, squealing voice and magical tunes that still makes me sing along forty years down the road. I especially love, "Stranger in a Strange Land": Stop the money chase Lay back, relax Get back on the human track Stop racing toward oblivion.
