My friend has a low-functioning (high-support) cousin. I'm high-functioning (low support). I told her I'm autistic." It hurt. No two autistic/Aspie kids are the same. Implying we are based on one experience is hurtful.

I think if my son could find the words he would tell me this. It's good to remind myself it is work for him.

Appearing "normal" is extremely hard work. Unless you're an Aspie in an NT world, you could never understand.
