Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP), sometimes referred to as Stone Man Syndrome, is an extremely rare disease of the connective tissue. A mutation of the body's repair mechanism causes fibrous tissue (including muscle, tendon, and ligament) to be ossified when damaged. So your whole body slowly turns to bone.
The most excruciating way to die. In many cases, injuries can cause joints to become permanently frozen in place.
Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva(or Stone Man Syndrome) - is a condition where if fibrous tissue (such as muscle) becomes damaged, the mutated repair system attempts to heal the wound by ossifying it (osteogenesis - the process of creating new bone). In short your body fills damaged areas with bone. This can lead to joints becoming completely mobile. Surgical attempts to remove the extra bone normally leads to the body repairing the affected area with more bone.
In many cases, injuries can cause joints to become permanently frozen in place. Surgical removal of the extra bone growths has been shown to cause the body to "repair" the affected area with more bone. How painful!

Madame de Florian, a French socialite, fled to the south of France during World War II and left her Parisian apartment on the Right Bank near the Opéra Garnier. She never sold it however, just in case she wanted to return. Sadly, she never went back to it after the war. Since 1942, the apartment has been sitting untouched, until recently when an auctioneer entered her apartment. What he found was a time capsule, full of perfectly preserved treasures.

A Parisian apartment left untouched for over 70 years via The Telegraph, photos by GETTY. Madame de Florian was a French socialite and actress who fled to the south of France during World War II. She kept her apartment in Paris on the Right Bank near the Opéra Garnier. Abandoned till her death in 2010.
Taxidermy Ostrich and other oddities - Parisian apartment of Madame de Florian, abandoned as the then-23 year old fled to the Riviera in 1942. She continued to pay the rent until her death at age 91. 1942 ‘Time Capsule’ Apartment Discovered In Paris, before world war ll, Madame de Florian - a socialite and actress, Paris apartment, untouched
1942 ‘Time Capsule’ Apartment Discovered In Paris after 70 years. Back in 2010 a Parisian apartment on the Right Bank, near the Opéra Garnier, left unoccupied since 1942 was discovered. It was owned by Madame de Florian – a socialite and an actress – who fled to the South of France during the second world war, leaving everything behind. She never came back to Paris but kept on paying her rent until the day she died when she was 91.
Taxidermy Paris apartment – The owner of this apartment, Mrs. De Florian left Paris just before the rumblings of World War II broke out in Europe. She closed up her shutters and left for the South of France, never to return to the city again. Seven decades later she passed away at the age of 91. It was only when her heirs enlisted professionals to make an inventory of the Parisian apartment she left behind, that this time capsule was finally unlocked.
