Kids really start to understand the concept vs. just getting the answer.  I've had more than one parent complain that I don't let them use the "shortcut they 'were taught' in 5th grade."

Love this concrete way to teach improper fractions and mixed numbers! This teacher used math manipulative to help the students use prior knowledge of the fraction blocks to help them when solving improper fractions.
