Midas
Midas 12” x 10” x 1” Mixed Media on panel, framed I love old, rusted metal textures. I found some beautiful pieces while in Ireland. The rain rusts everything quickly compared to our dry climate at home. I was inspired to demonstrate to the students in Ireland how to use acrylic mediums and color to create textures. I added the gold leaf when I finished the piece in my Santa Fe studio.

Follow Your Heart 10” x 10” x 1” Mixed Media on Yupo Experimenting with various surfaces and paints is my passion. Following my heart and listening to my muse is my language. I created this painting while filming my YouTube series. I apply paint on both sides of the Yupo, a synthetic paper, that is then mounted onto panel and framed. Follow Your Heart to find your bliss.

Stormy Sunday This piece is another moody landscape inspired work but really my teaching lesson on this piece was on how to use pastes, mix colors and layer in order to create a feeling. It began as a complete abstraction but as I turned and rotated the piece while working, I saw a mountain and forest landscape emerge.Where is this place for you? You may have a particular reaction to storms, but here in the Southern Rockies, storm clouds are a welcome event where they...

The Dunes of Venus My dreams often carry me to distant planets and stars. This painting explores what the surface of Venus might look like if you were roaming over the dunes. The paints are interference and when you view the painting from different angles and under various lighting, you will see the colors shift in hue. I love how the colors really pop even in low lighting.

Sandra Duran Wilson - Work Zoom: Raven on the Nile
Raven On the Nile Framed size 18” x 22” x 1” Mixed media on panel This piece is inspired by the work of Gustav Klimt. I made all of the mosaic elements from acrylic, metals and collage. Instead of human figures I have made animal totems and Egyptian mythical figures. The Tree of Life figures in the background.

Strength of the Soul 16” diameter Mixed Media Strength of the Soul was created for the album release of my friend Marco Verdugo. He sent me a particular song to create a work of art for. He then put together a book for the album of all the artists that made art in collaboration with the music. As a synesthete, music has color and movement in my mind. I made this painting for a song called No One Home. The lyrics of the song tell a sad story but through the music I saw hope rising from the c

Distant Stars 6” x 6” x 1.5” Acrylic on panel Stargazing from 7000 feet altitude allows me to travel through time as I witness the light from ages ago. Witnessing the night sky from the Bisti Badlands really looks like this! The cracked earth of the dunes and the clear skies above. Won’t you join me in this magical landscape?

Sandra Duran Wilson - Work Zoom: The Ligurian Sea
The Ligurian Sea 6” x 6” x 1” Acrylic on paper This small acrylic on paper was created while I was teaching a painting course in Italy. The waters here are rich in seafood and the small villages along the coast are known as Cinque Terre. The colors capture the reflections of the village in the sea. This piece has been donated to a fund raiser for the Santa Fe Artist Medical Emergency Fund.
