Happy Words of Wisdom Wednesday! This week's quote is from E.L. Doctorow. I'm somewhere between 'plotter' and 'pantser'. I can have a basic plot sketched out, but it's not until I start the journey (characters, imagination and good intentions in tow), that little by little I can envisage where we're going, how we're going to get there, and how we'll dealing with the bumps in the road along the way. #WordsOfWisdomWednesday #AuthorLife #authorquotes

Happy Words of Wisdom Wednesday! This week's quote is from Paul Graham and it couldn't be truer. When something is easy to read, and dialogue flows seemingly effortlessly this is as a result of re-writing, re-reading and re-writing. A vicous circle, but eventually the result of that hard work shines through. #WordsOfWisdomWednesday #AuthorLife #authorquotes

Happy Words of Wisdom Wednesday! This week's quote is from Ralph Keyes. Routine and writing regularly can definitely be your friend while you're waiting for inspiration to show up and get with the program. The important thing is getting those words down. As they say, you can't edit a blank page... #WordsOfWisdomWednesday #AuthorLife #WritingRoutine

Happy WOW Wednesday! This week's quote is from Jessica Katoff. When I started writing my first book, Spark, the words and the story were like an animal trapped inside desperate to escape. Every book since has, at one point, burned inside of me. Of course, some have been harder to extract than others :p #WordsOfWisdomWednesday #AuthorLife #authorquotes #writerlife #writing #writersinspiration

Happy Words of Wisdom Wednesday! This week's quote is from Libba Bray. I absolutely adore this quote. It rings so true with me. With every book I write I give it everything, and until I write 'The End' my words are always on my mind. For however many months it takes me to write, I give that manuscript EVERYTHING I've got. My words matter, my characters matter, and of course everything that happens to them from the first chapter to the last, matters. And I hope that comes across to my…

Happy Words of Wisdom Wednesday! This week's quote is from #AntonChekhov The first time I heard this classic quote was at my first @rwaustralia Conference back in 2013. 'Showing' and not 'telling' in my writing I found so tough initially, but after a few online courses over the years (as well as simply writing, writing and more writing), it has become second nature. It also helps that I have a super talented editor who kicks my butt when I need to SHOW more. #WordsOfWisdomWednesday

Happy Words of Wisdom Wednesday! This week's quote is from #TrumanCapote When I first started writing, I'll be honest, when other authors talked about "I wanted one ending, but my characters wanted another", I thought they were a little cuckoo. Well, these days, I'm as cuckoo as they come. When characters live in your mind for months on end, and every spare moment you have you obsess over them and their story, they become apart of you, you walk in their shoes. By the time you're heading for…

Happy Words of Wisdom Wednesday! And if you haven't found that style yet, don't worry, you will. #WordsOfWisdomWednesday #AuthorLife
