50 Story Starters
COMPLEX SENTENCES: Teach students to create and punctuate complex sentences using these story starters. Only three subordinate conjunctions will be used: Since, Although & When (SAW Strategy). Instructions: 1) Students copy one complex sentence story starter onto a notebook page. 2) Students add a character name in the blank(s), if provided. 3) Students circle the comma after the dependent clause. 4) Students continue the story for 12 minutes. 5) Students share stories.
