A collision of two galaxies has left a merged star system with an unusual appearance as well as bizarre internal motions. Messier 64 (M64) has a spectacular dark band of absorbing dust in front of the galaxy's bright nucleus, giving rise to its nicknames of the Black Eye or Evil Eye galaxy. The Fairy of Eagle Nebula. Fairypillar formation of Cosmic dust from outer space. The size of this formation is unimaginable! The dust sculptures of the Eagle Nebula are evaporating. As powerful starlight whittles away these cool cosmic mountains, the statuesque pillars that remain might be imagined as mythical beasts. Pictured above is one of several striking dust pillars of the Eagle Nebula that might be described as a gigantic alien fairy. This fairy, however, is ten light years tall and spews radiation much hotter than common fire. The greater Eagle Nebula, M16, is actually a giant evaporating shell of gas and dust inside of which is a growing cavity filled with a spectacular stellar nursery currently forming an open cluster of stars. The above image in scientifically re-assigned colors was released in 2005 as part of the fifteenth anniversary celebration of the launch of the Hubble Space Telescope.
This is an extremely high definition Hubble Telescope shot of the Eagle Nebula. The Eagle has risen: Stellar spire in the Eagle Nebula. Stars in the Eagle Nebula are born in clouds of cold hydrogen gas that reside in chaotic neighbourhoods, where energy from young stars sculpts fantasy-like landscapes in the gas. The tower may be a giant incubator for those newborn stars. A torrent of ultraviolet light from a band of massive, hot, young stars [off the top of the image] is eroding the pillar.
Morocco could have had borders with Canada and USA LOL: Pangaea was a supercontinent that existed for about 100 million years before fracturing apart 200 million years ago and moving slowly into the current continental configuration. This is what the world would look like had that land mass stayed intact.

Tornado in the desert of Namibia. When the last of my babies is grown and leaves the nest I plan on indulging a craving for a particular adventure: stormchasing. As long as I can remember I have had dreams about tornados, and while the personal, close-up encounters leave me with a great deal of reverence and cautious respect, they have also imparted an abiding hunger to chase. I always thought it would lead me to a summer adventure in the midwest for a couple of weeks, chasing with a professional storm team. Seeing this photo my horizons have suddenly expanded. I don't know how frequent this occurrence is in a place like Namibia, and it certainly looks a great deal more ominous, but it's inspired a deep curiosity to learn more. Thanks to Jenn Smith for helping me discover the terrible beauty of this unexpected treasure and potential future adventure from photographer Francesco Middei of National Geographic Italia. -- Eve.

Star cluster Trumpler 16, located in the southern Carina Nebula. WR 25, the brightest object in the above image, was confirmed to consist of at least two separate stars. Additionally, Tr16 -244, just to the upper right of WR 25, was resolved for the first time to be at least three individual stars. Even so, the brightest star in WR 25 appears to be about 50 times the mass of our Sun, making it one of the more massive stars known.

It’s amazing how these are done and the fact that this intricacy exists inside of us.

11 Images of Nature You Won't Believe Aren't Photoshopped | The Crystal Cave: Seriously, though, this is the Crystal Cave of Svinafellsjokull, a 150-foot-long ice cave in Iceland. The cave is located on the border between a glacier and the Icelandic coast, which accounts for the unusual color of the ice walls -- snow that falls onto the glacier has all of the oxygen forced out of it when the glacier moves, causing the snow to turn an otherworldly dark blue when it freezes into ice. Death trap.

Comparative anatomy of bipedalism and knuckle walkers. Contrary to pop culture, scientists never claimed that man descended from modern apes. Both modern humans and apes branched off from a very early species that may not have looked much like either one of us, modern humans nor ape. Over the course of millions of years apes evolved and humans evolved separately on our on different paths and will continue so.
A human skeleton compared to a gorilla skeleton. Is it Easy to Imagine How Science Conjures Up the required Transitional Links? We can get from the Left Form to the Right Frame - Right? You can see that - right? To be termed "scientific", a method of inquiry must be based on empirical and measurable evidence subject to specific principles of reasoning; systematic observation, measurement, and experiment, and the formulation, testing, and modification of hypotheses.
