BubbleFabric_1 Teams designed the external shape of the tension structures as well as the textile itself on laptops - in this image it is fully tensioned. In this case the textile acts like a net. Stresses are moving primarily through the thicker parts of the textile. On Day 2 teams began to process their textile patterns for the knitting machine. The picture below shows the fabric our team designed directly from the industral knitting machine.

Recicle. Well Proven Chair by James Shaw and Marjan van Aubel ''every scrap of material and minute of production time was carefully recorded during the manufacturing of these twelve wooden chairs'' ''The data was used to produce life-cycle assessments, charting the projected lifespan of each chair against the cost of resources and processes needed to produce it.''
London Design Festival: every scrap of material and minute of production time was carefully recorded during the manufacturing of these twelve wooden chairs, helping the Royal College of Art students that designed them to measure each one’s sustainability.

yukari hotta: kile storage furniture wooden wedges japanese-born and denmark-based designer yukari hotta, graduate from the danish design school, has made a nice and simple bookcase that can be assembled solely by using wooden wedges. no extra metal fasteners are used at all. wooden wedges holding the joints of the furniture together 'KILE' storage furniture 'KILE' storage furniture fiona db 03.01.10 comments: seriously ikea should take a look at these kinds of designs to save the massive frustration of assembly from their customers. also, think of how many returns they can avoid because people over turn screws and crack the particle board. great practical design that's good for the people. chuck 03.01.10 While interesting, the bookshelves I have are hinged sides and backs. They collapse in one piece and they are stackable. d;-) Jetwax 03.02.10 What is going on with the link to the danish design school. Look likes this story is taken from the biggest design blog in Denmark, Dagens Design which is not exactly a design school. hmm weird. Peter 03.04.10 This concept is around 80 yrs old!! I have furniture in my house that my grand father had bought long ago. I guess the Designer can take credit for coloring the wedges!! Merv 03.05.10 Yeeah.. I like it even if the concept / joints are not a new innovation. But in the end, old innovations are often better than all kind of new ones, torx, Philipps a.s.o. message to Merv, it is probably more than 10 000 years old innovation, they used his kind of solutions in Egypt / Inkas, and all the other places with civilisations. and in stone age aswell. To create the dining table we took a cube of oak and rotated it by 45 degrees on two of its axis and planed off the pointy surface. When these cubes are arranged as a surface, they reveal a language of large and small triangles, but as you look around the edge of the cube you see the chunky wooden cubes that create the triangles.
