Backyard Farming: gardening 101

Ten mistakes new herb gardeners make (and how to avoid them)

Grow potatoes in a laundry basket. Yields 8-10lbs of potatoes per basket!

Got Weeds? Use Vinegar: Homemade Weed Killer 1 gallon of white vinegar 1/2 cup salt Liquid dish soap (any brand) Empty spray bottle Put salt in the empty spray bottle and fill it the rest of the way up with white vinegar. Add a squirt of liquid dish soap. This solution works best if you use it on a hot day. Spray it on the weeds in the morning, and as it heats up it will do its work.

1tsp epsom salts in 4 c warm water....spray on plant and then 10 days later it produces more fruit due to boost of magnesium... especially for tomatoes

Cucumbers like it hot and lettuce likes shade...They make great companions planted in this fashion

Love growing our cukes up a trellis or cage. It's a space saver & keeps the veggies off the ground. This would make a great Snap Pea fence too...Might have to make a fence like this for our Pea's!
