Quiet: The power of introverts in a world that can't stop talking : Susan Cain - One of the most amazing books I've read. Reminded me of the days when I was completely quiet. I've worked hard at learning how to talk to people.
Proust Was a Neuroscientist - Jonah Lehrer | By far the most interesting book I have read all year! Well, it's got competition, but you'll understand what I mean once you read the chapter about Auguste Escoffier, how tastebuds need to earn new flavours, and hearing new sounds can make us violent. Brilliant book. And creating a parallel for each neuroscientific discovery to an artist / writer / chef / composer, works incredibly well for remembering the lessons!
Your Beauty Mark: The Ultimate Guide to Eccentric Glamour by Dita Von Teese This book made me late for work. I had to just put it away, and I accidentally opened it, and my eyes fell on the text... and then it was half an hour later. Magnetic, just like the author herself!! (disclaimer: have not read the entire book yet!! It's rather huge, and does NOT fit into a handbag for commuter reading)
Raw Data: Infographic Designers' Sketchbooks: Amazon.co.uk: Steven Heller, Rick Landers | Wouldn't say I've read it. But poking around in it for the last week has been a delight!! Look forward to spending more time being inspired (yes, data sketches = inspiration!!) during the holidays.
