On 28 August 2013, the Peace Palace in The Hague will celebrate its hundredth birthday. I will help organize a ministerial conference to promote the peaceful settlement of disputes. On this page I will give you an unique look behind the scenes of our Foreign Ministry by providing you with personal and regular updates on the background, goals and preparations of the centennial activities.

Last week the ICJ Council of an international Model UN Conference visited the Peace Palace for a brainstorm session on the topic: '100 Years Peace Palace: What's Next?' Three groups each wrote an elevator pitch for Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on peaceful settlement of disputes. The results will be part of a short movie, shown at the Peace Palace centennial on 28 August and representing a message from the youth to current world leaders.
