Plastic Food Storage: OK or Not?
Are plastics safe for food storage? I last addressed this question back in January 2007 , so here's an update. As you might suspect, the...
~ Pyrex - Butterprint in Turquoise... Coffee cups!
image from here.... I can not think of a more common design of Pyrex... than Butterprint. Glorious turquoise Butterprint. I can remember practically every house I was in as a child, having a set of this turquoise beauty in the kitchen. Especially the mixing bowls. Be it the Cinderella bowls or the standard mixing bowls. These were plentiful. I wonder if Pyrex kept records with how much of this design was sold. And then there is the sets of casseroles and refrigerator dishes. So as much as I…

Pyrex 2.5-quart sage green covered casserole with gold-tone stand in the 1962 promotional Medallion pattern, no. 6362. This is in excellent condition. The original candle has been burned slightly and there is a bit of soot on the underside of the candle cover. The casserole is in near mint or mint condition. The stand has a bit of discoloration in places. The grain on one of the wooden handles is raised, which imparts a slightly rough feel when wiped against the grain. The edge of the…
The Copycat Collector
I have been a collector since I was a child.... mostly aimless & pointless collections. Nothing very valuable, not too trendy, and rarely in mint condition. Just a plethora of "stuff" that I've had fun adding to through the years. If I have at least 3, I consider it a collection. I'll be posting a different collection daily, Monday through Friday, and spotlighting some other marvelous collections I've discovered on the weekends. I hope you stop by often!

Getting embossed as opposed to incised, and the material becoming glass, it is obviously molded in as opposed to stamped. It's a crystalline material and was probably the big part of the very first glass employed by humans.
