Being a 12-time NBA All-Star, Larry bird was named the leagues MVP for three consecutive seasons from 1984-1986 and also the All-Star game MVP in 1992. Starting his career in the NBA, Bird signed a contract with the Boston Celtics’ as their No. 1 draft pick for $650,000. Taking the NBA rookie of the year honors, Bird averaged a 21.3 points per game, 10.4 rebounds, an average of 143 total steals and 2,955 minutes played in total. Larry Bird announced his retirement from the NBA in 1992.
