Ghosts in Our Blood: With Malcolm X in Africa, England, and the Caribbean by Jan R. Carew. $4.69. Publication: October 1994. Publisher: Lawrence Hill & Co; Lst Ed edition (October 1994). Author: Jan R. Carew http://stjohns.waldo.kohalibrary.com/cgi-bin/koha/opac-detail.pl?biblionumber=251114

Poetry- I put this book on my wish list because I feel it is important to highlight poetry from someone of a different race and for my students to be exposed to poetry from all different kind of people. Langston Hughes wrote poems about Civil Rights which can also be tied into a history lesson in the classroom as well.

One of my favorite poems and the idea of expecting nothing has been with me since the book the Mircrobe Hunters. More sustaining for me than thinking you can have the sun, the moon, and the stars.
