Kawarau River, Otago, New Zealand, featured in this photo as a setting for the Argonath, in the 2001 movie, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. In the movie, the Argonath, the two giant statues, represent ancient kings of Gondor in Middle Earth. The statues do not actually exist; but, rather, are due to movie magic!
