Anna Leonowens who invented a life for herself to escape her past and who wrote the "King and I", which became a popular musical. She later settled in Nova Scotia where she helped to create the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design as a vocational college.

She was born in India of an Englishman and a part-Eurasian lady--something that Anna didn't wish people to know. Her veracity in her memoirs of her years in Siam has been challenged.
