This chart is good information about meltdowns. *** But please remember that adults with ASD have "meltdowns" too, although they are very different***. As an adult it's not possible to throw a tantrum so the issues shown on the diagram manifest differently. (And differently in different ASD adults.) The problem is... we can either let that strong empathy overwhelm us, or we can do our best to tune it out so it doesn't. This, I believe, is the source of the myth. People only notice it when we work to tone the empathy down to survive.
