Firestone Building, Great West Road, Brentford c.1928, by Wallis Gilbert & Partners - exuberant Art Deco with Eygptian details. It was smashed beyond repair by order of its new owners over the Bank holiday weekend in August 1980 in lieu of the spot-listing paperwork being completed. It was then demolished. Behind the extraordinary facade, the Firestone Company made its tyres.
