The Battle of Philippi—was fought on June 3, 1861, in and around Philippi, Virginia (now West Virginia) as part of the Western Virginia Campaign of the American Civil War. It was the first organized land action in the war (the impromptu Battle of Fairfax Court House took place two days earlier), but is often treated dismissively as a skirmish rather than a significant battle.Position of McClellan's Advance on the Heights Round Philippi.
The Covered Bridge over the Tygart Valley River at Philippi, West Virginia. It is notable for its use during the first land battle of the Civil War; it is also the only twin-barreled covered bridge on a federal highway in the U.S. and it is one of the longest covered bridges in the country. Who is the Prince of Peace? We have all heard the names of God, and the many given to Jesus. We know Him as Savior and Lord, and Healer, and turn to Him as such. But who is that Prince of Peace, Love held Him to a cross, and kept Him silent before His accusers, all while enduring unimaginable torture, for us! He suffered mentally for us to have the peace of mind. And yet, that is where our struggle is. we all battle negativity, doubt, fear, But we can learn to trust HIm.
