Usain Bolt may have been the only athlete who upstaged swimmer Michael Phelps in the recent Beijing Olympics. The Jamaican sprinter surprisingly set two individual world records in the 100 and 200 meters and was part of a 4×100 relay world record Jamaican team.

Michael Phelps wins eight gold medals at the Beijing Olympics (2008) -- Not only can Baltimore claim the greatest baseball player of all time and the greatest quarterback, but Phelps is already the most prolific Olympic swimmer, and he's headed for the London Olympics this summer.

At the 1904 Summer Olympics, American gymnast George Eyser won six medals: 3 gold; two silver, and one bronze. What makes Eyser even more unique is that he competed with a wooden leg. During his youth, Eyser lost most of his left leg after a train ran over it. This didn’t stop him from making history a few years later, becoming the only person to compete in the Olympic Games with an artificial leg, until 2008 when South African swimmer, Natalie du Toit, competed in the Beijing Olympics.
