Add the berries,sugar and lime juice to a med saucepan. Cook on low, covered, 20 to 25 min. Using fine mesh strainer, press the berries to extract all juice/puree. re-frigerate to cool completely. Simple way to spice up Black Beans..... In a saucepan combine 1 can black beans, 1 small onion, and 1 clove garlic, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low. Season with 1 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro, 1/4 tsp cayenne, and salt to taste. Simmer for 5 minutes, and serve.
CHICKEN AND CABBAGE CHILI -- 2 C. chicken broth -- 1T. cumin -- 1T. chili powder -- 1t. cayenne pepper -- 1 t. black pepper -- 4 oz. cooked chicken, cubed -- 1 C. shredded cabbage -- Pour the broth into a saucepan and place over high heat. Stir in cumin, chili powder, cayenne and black pepper. Bring to a boil. Once boiling carefully stir in the chicken and cabbage. Reduce heat to med. and cover simmer the chili for 15 minutes or until heated through
