The Kosinski's, the family who owned the farm next to ours, decided to plant blueberry bushes and became the first farmers in town to have blueberries for sale. When the bushes got big enough to harvest, all of us (kids) and Momma too, would go to work for them to help pick the blueberries for market. That was how we earned a little 'summer money'.
These are not native Maine low bush blueberries but rather cultivated high bush berries... or maybe even imports (say no!) Regardless... Mainers love their blueberries in almost every conceivable form all year long!
