The Basic Boiler Operator test is made up of questions covering all aspects of boiler operation including but not limited to: boiler operation, boiler maintenance, fuels, combustion, thermodynamic fundamentals, steam and hot water distribution, water treatment, national codes and standards, emergency procedures, and any other material thought relevant by the Certification Committee.
The Advanced Boiler Operator exam is similar in content but the level of difficulty increases as the equipment worked on is much more sophisticated. More emphasis will be placed on: combustion, pollution control, safety, operating procedures, as well as boiler operation, boiler maintenance, fuels, combustion, thermodynamic fundamentals, steam and hot water distribution, water treatment, national codes, standards, and emergency procedures.
